The Pink Brigade: Only 3 days left to order your jackets, headscarves & aprons to support this w

The Pink Brigade 2017 Breast Cancer Awareness Initiative, Uniting Chefs across the Globe.

The Pink Brigade, founded by Chef Robbie Stokes in 2014, continues to need your support .It highlights the importance of early detection as the best protection against breast cancer.

The 2017 campaign promises to be even bigger and better than previous years, which has seen The Pink Brigade raise nearly AED 200,000 to date, through the sale of their unique personalised Chef jackets and pink aprons generously supplied by loyal supporters A. Ronai. This year, The Pink Brigade have introduced a beautiful pink headscarf to complement their successful kitchen range which is already proving to be very popular among professional Chefs as well as women who love to spend time in the kitchen.

All sale proceeds from the campaign are donated to The Pink Caravan, a pan Emirate breast cancer awareness initiative that was launched in 2011 and fights to improve the lives of those affected by cancer as well as lobbying for the creation of the UAE’s National Cancer Registry.

Statistics show that as many as one in eight women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime which may be successfully treated, if the disease is caught early enough. This makes raising awareness of the varied signs and symptoms of breast cancer a critical element.

The Pink Brigade founder, Chef Robbie Stokes, knows only too well the importance of early detection having lost his wife Claire to breast cancer in January 2015, one month before her 40th birthday.

“It’s now been two and half years since Claire sadly died from having secondary breast cancer and it has been very hard for us as a young family living without her. The Pink Brigade was created to show women across the UAE and beyond, that our industry cares about them and wants to help in any way that we can. We are proud to continue this with the launch of The Pink Brigade in 2017” said Chef Robbie.

“For this year, we have the ‘pinked’ personalised Chefs jacket and apron as well as introducing our exciting new addition, the ‘pinked’ headscarf! We hope with your generous support we can again reach out and help many families that have been affected by breast cancer. We are so thankful for all the wonderful support that we have been shown over the past 3 years which has helped us to raise much needed awareness for breast cancer throughout the UAE and GCC region”.

Supporters of the Pink Brigade include iconic UAE organisations such as The Burj Al Arab, The Atlantis Hotel, The Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi, the Jumeirah Group and JW Marriot Hotels. It is hoped that The Pink Brigade’s 2017 campaign will highlight their vitally important mission and garner even further support internationally.

Chef Michael Kitts, Director of Culinary Arts at the Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management says “I believe that everyone in the world at some stage in their lives, has been affected by this terrible disease we call cancer. We must never give up the fight to beat it. The catering industry is one of the closest, most dignified ‘families’ in the world and we believe that families are there for each other. I am personally proud to be a part of that ethos and shall support my Pink Brigade family in 2017 and beyond”.
